will send off 2 samples to Blackstone Labs. One sample will be the used oil from last year and the other will be a virgin sample right out of the bottle. Both are Redline 30wt race oil, I'll post the results when I get them.

I'm more interested in the clean oil and its amount of Zinc.

I sent off a sample of the truck oil last year and it came back that the engine was in great shape!

Mark, how much does that cost?  I have never sent off my truck oil although I probably should since the 6.0's have injector issues.

Cool, kind of like blood work for your car.
I knew Caterpillar did it for Heavy equipment while it was under warranty... Never considered  car.

No Frills 68 Fastback, 302, 4 speed, 9" 3.50 Best run 14.6 in the quarter. I love this car!

The problem with Blackstone, Caterpillar, etc, is that their testing is not exactly the same so the numbers that come back are not the same.  A good automotive forum to snoop around in is:

I've attached the oil report for the virgin sample of Redline 30wt race oil. Haven't received the used oil report yet.

That pretty neat.  I'm interested in seeing the used oil in comparison with the new.  How used was the used oil?  Did it have many miles/track events on it?

The total cost was $30.00 for each sample.

The used oil was in the car all last season, it'll be interesting to see the diff and if there are any internal engine problems.

That oil sure has a lot of zinc and phosphorus!

No kidding - 1200 - 1600 ppm is considered high these days (and is about where the average oil used to be).

Edit: and at $48 / gal they think highly of those levels!

I just did a little research about the redline oil, and their website says 48/gal.

I'd rather have it, then wipe a cam out  :ep I haven't had any problems over the years I've used it, so I'm ok.

Andre, you can get it much cheaper through Racer Parts Wholesale, that's where I buy it.

Why do you get it there? Isn't it only for racers?

Do PT's even use oil?  Don't you just have to change out the rodents every 3,000 miles?

The oil is used to help process the fuel thru the "engine".
