1970 hood chrome moulding
« on: April, 06, 2010, 03:01:04 PM »
Does anyone make a good repo hood moulding for a 1970 Mustang? The one I bought the clips keep pulling through. If anyone has bought a good one please let me know where.
Thanks Rick

Quick answer: No.

P.S. it is annodized aluminum, not chrome... and they can be reconditioned for a couple hundred dollars. The last NOS pieces I saw went for around $700.

My 67 has the one from CJ Pony parts and it fits well.  I don't know about the 70s.

Do you have the retainer strip that goes between the molding nuts and the hood lip?

That's what I was going to ask as well.  My repo one fits well.  Got it from the 'bay.  And there is a difference between the '69 piece and the '70 piece.  Make sure you have the correct year with the correct hardware.

Ask me how I know...

I would strongly recommend you restore your original, any plating shop usually restores stainless parts it might cost a few bucks but it will fit and look right well worth the effort.
