The older I get, the easier it is for me to remember things that never happened

Wow . Did that just happen. Thank you for posting it, I know it is hard to post this kind of pick because it usually reflects an impression of a mistake. However this kind of post doea indeed help remind others that checking and double checking the lugs are not a waste of time. Do you care to tell the driving characteristics shortly after ejection...I mean this is on coming traffic pull and surely got you attention real quick.
Love your children

I think it was 5 or 6 years ago. I had just installed the wheels
and had Sears do an alignment. For some reason they removed
the wheels and when they put them back on never tightened the lug nuts.
I drove home from Sears, about 7 miles, and was less than a half
mile from home when the wheel let go. I was doong about 10mph.
Heard a noise, saw ALL 5 lug nuts fly past the window in the same
circle pattern as they were on the wheel...followed by the rocker panel
molding and the emblems. Front end dropped and I pulled over. Opened the
door and caught the tire as it was rolling by.
She had all the original sheetmetal without any bodywork till that day.
