Well, Sabrina's new mustang has a noise that I can get rid of. I'm thinking that it's a rocker arm and not a rod knocking. And unfortunately, they have the non-adjustable rocker arms on 'em. I've torqued down all the rocker arm nuts a couple of times. I've even added a jam nut to make sure that they were loosening up. And still the noise is there. So, the next thing to do was to check the rocker studs to see if they're pulling out. I grabbed a straight edge and set it across the driver's side studs. Flat...none are high. I put the straight edge on the passenger side and my straight edge rocks back and forth. Crap. #3 intake is higher than the rest. I know where the noise is coming from.
So, starting tomorrow night, I'm yanking a set of heads. I've got an older set of heads sitting on the shelf that I can slap on. They have a set of screw in studs and guide plates. They'll be a bit overkill, since they've been ported and polished, and larger valves installed. I've got a set of head gaskets and an intake gasket in the drawer, so I hope that I can yank the heads and get the "new" heads put on in fairly short order.
On a different note: the c4 that I went through was fired up tonight. At least it worked (for 1 trip around the driveway)!!
