Leaky Fuel pump
« on: September, 14, 2008, 11:40:38 AM »
The fuel pump is new on my 5.0. The car has sat for about 5 months and now after driving it up and down the street today to get it to running temp the fuel pump is leaking a bit. Is it just a gasket or is this a good excuse to upgrade the fuel pump?

mechanical or electric?  Is it leaking fuel, or oil (if mechanical)?

Those black holes are threaded holes which keep the bottom half attached to the top half.  That is a thick rubber diaphragm between the two.  You might be able to get a replacement diaphragm for your pump.  Also check to make sure those bolts are snug, as a loose one might cause the seep.  If all else fails, pumps are cheap!  Good luck!
