Does My Rear End Look Right??
« on: January, 14, 2010, 06:44:01 PM »
My 8" rear end looks a little different than others I've seen.  The other 8" cases I've seen have a waffle style appearance to the front.  On mine, one of the recesses is filled in.  I've not seen this before.

It does not look as if someone welded it up or anything.  The filled area is rough like it was cast that way.  I'm curious if anyone has seen this before and if anyone knows why it was done.

Mine...

From one Craig to another,,,,,,never ask if your rear end looks right.    Nonetheless,  I can't fathom why that center square is filled in.

I thought it was filled with grease when I first removed it.  I stripped the area with a wire wheel.  This area is solid metal.

That is very wierd.  Are you tearing down the chunk to the point that we can see the inside?  Might there be a hole all the way through?

I would think if it's full of metal, as Craig said, there's a hole or crack that someone tried to seal behind it all.

Most likely a casting mold error that got by QC...... IMO, no operational issues. Have fun. Nice paint.

Your rear does look a little big...perhaps if you wore a different dress?
