lh headlamp bucket
« on: January, 14, 2010, 07:24:39 AM »
heres my situation.  I couldnt find good used headlight buckets so i bought new ones. the right side assembly was normal and the price reflected it, the left side was a blem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370270488386&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT i thought the blem was a dent but actually its a bubble, its raised on both sides. thats not a problem anymore, i was putting the dang thing on and it shattered on the inside. when i took it off and it broke in half so i emailed the seller and they and their supplier said this has never happened before and it had to be error on my part. i responded saying i wasnt forceful and it seemed to be a quailty issue more than anything. their reply was send them $125 including shipping and they would replace it. has anyone had this happen. any suggestions?

I would insist that they either replace it or refund you your money back.  I would be leery of getting another crap part from them now.

they might not replace due to it being listed as a blem. post a pic of what the condition is now. it may be repairable with some of the 2 part epoxy adhesives out now. i've got 2 or 3 different types here in the shop that will fix almost anything.

ouch, if i were you, i don't think i would send them another penny.  Looks like a real bad part that was manufactured poorly. I hope you used paypal, if so, i would open a claim to hopefully get a few bucks back by pressuring the seller.  Good luck

Holy Crap.  That bucket didn't just shatter, it exploded.  I definately wouldn't send anymore money to 'em.  They need to be held accountable for selling subpar items.  I think I'd still be dropping  :fbomb !!

i threatened to send it all back and go with an assembly from another guy that beat his price by $35. so i got him to come down to $100 shipped. i really think this was just a casting problem on that one since it was a blem. hope im not screwing up

You aren't paying the bum another 100 on top of what you already paid for the bucket are you?   He should be replacing it free of charge.

Might be a little late to the party here :lol

You are not screwing up.

The way I read and understand it, the vendor is replacing it and offering to upgrade to a new non blem for the additional 100.00 which is still 25.00 cheaper the list price.

According to his ebay ad:
List Price 299.00
Blem Price 175.00

Savings 124.00

So if he offers up a new one for 100 bucks more than was paid for the blem, how is that not fair?

Still paying the same price as you would if you just bought a good one to start with.

You would never have been happy with that one anyway. It would have been hell to fix that bubble and it not be noticeable.

Never heard of the vendor before, but I don't think he's out of line or unfair. He could simply say that there was risk involved in buying a blem, you knew it was a blem, you bought it anyway.
