i currently have brand new front suspension but i want to do an upgrade without buying a heidts weld in setup... what are my options??? dont murder me, but is it possible to get an adjustable coil-over shock that mounts like the stock shock and coil???

I am using the kit from Ron Morris and really like it. Great value, simple bolt on and very adjustable. I purchased mine on ebay for hundreds less than retail. It was directly from Ron and had a finish flaw that I could not find.

ron morris sells just the coil over and varishock does the same.... are these the only options for this conversion????

after researching for the last five hours i think im going to just replace the shock and spring with a coil over shock.... i like the looks of the varishock aka tcp but ive found that qa1 and afco have shocks that will work with the original shock tower mounts for half as much... plaus i can get get matching rear shocks and get rid of my kyb gas adjust

i cant find the afco again but i think it was the t2 and it may have been on the protouring.com site or modded mustangs i really don thave a clue its been almost 8 hours of looking now....

I believe those are just shocks, not coil overs. You would still have to use a traditional coil spring.

You are correct, the left one does appear to be a coil over, but the one on the right isn't. For that price, I'm pretty sure you are just getting a shock. Look at some of the other coil overs on that site, and they are $399. Unfortunately the website isn't very clear. You might need to call. If you find out any more info, please let us know. Thanks.

[member]If you guys want to trick out that set up, move the lower mounting point farther out on the upper arm. That will give you a better motion ratio. A better motion ratio will make the car drive and ride better because of the change in wheel rate. The farther out on the arm, the less spring you will need. Less spring = better control.

The two things you get with the aftermarket coil overs is a lack of bind and a better motion ratio. The better motion ratio comes from mounting the spring closer to the ball joint on the lower arm. It doesn't matter what ball joint you mount it closer too, it works the same way.

I have a 1" perch move that works with a regular or double roller perch and a 2" perch move that works with a special double roller. Here is a photo of the 1" perch move with the double roller mounted on one of our roller UCA's.

I have templates for it if you want one.

This is something I came up with along with my work with the double rollers. With the shock and spring in separate pivots, you can put the perch anywhere you want. The 1" move works fine with the regular rollers though. We have done it to several cars and it works great.

It will stiffen up the spring rate about +/- 125lbs and raise the car about 1/2" . Here is a thread about one car we did it too.

My thought on it was to be able to run a lesser spring on the track cars. With this mod you could run a 560 spring instead of a 750 on the track.

The ride height increase is a byproduct of this mod. The main reason to do it is to change the motion ratio to a more favorable one.

If your moving the spring perch outward/inward, the holes will be spaced farther apart, how is the perch bolts going to fit in the holes?

On our arms the 2" forward and 1" backward move use a double roller with a wider bolt hole spread (custom chromoly shaft). The 1" perch move works with the stock bolt hole spread. I should have clarified "special double roller" .

If you wanted to move that coil over set up out 2" or 1" back, you would have to fab up a bridge of some kind. It wouldn't take much really, a couple of brackets welded to the arm would work.

You could move it 1 - 1 1/4" out with the stock bolt hole spread.[/member]
