Hello all,

What seats will work in a 68 mustang? I am 6'4 and am looking for a seat that sits the same or lower than stock along with being reclinable and adjustable front to rear of car wise. I like the pro car sqat seats?

I'm trying to stay under 400 dollars for a pair of front seats.

But what stock seats from other cars will work? or how do I get them to work? I've been looking at WRX seats or whatever other seats that have good bolsters so I won't slide, are comfortable, and are cloth.

I have '04 V6 Mustang seats with the leather upgrade in my '66. They really don't sit lower, but were easy to install. Just use the old mounts and drill one hole in each seat per rail. I gave $300.00 for front and rear.

I forgot to add I am 6'3" and not small.....the smaller wheel makes a difference for me. Seat pans are not lowered.

One in to compare with the original.

at 6'4" you may want to consider lowering your seat pans... Depending on how handy you are. I hear its quite the job.

Newer seats are a nice upgrade
I put some '99 seats in mine and there is a big difference.
Being as tall as you are you might have to lower the seat pan. :headac

There is also a way to lengthen the stock tracks to move them further back to gain more room. I dont have a link to that article, but I'll see if I can dig one up.

I dropped a set of Mach I seats into my fb last year and I really, really like them. If you're really lucky, you may find a set for ~$400.

A tilt steering wheel will help a LOT. Also, keep in mind that if you move your seats back for legroom, they will also move down a bit, because the seat pan slopes downward toward the rear.

I have heard that they might be to wide. Do some measuring....... If the base is pretty flat when the power rack is removed, there is a chance.

Just like AZPete, I installed a pair of '04 Mustang leather front seats into my '66. While the car was still in a shell state I lowered the seat pans in anticipation of this upgrade. It probably wasn't necessary to do so, but I enjoy the extra head room from having the seats a little lower. Removing, cutting down and re-installing the seat pans is not a big deal.... maybe a weekend job.

Bolsters.... be careful what you wish for.

In my son's '68 we installed the ProCar Rally seats. These seats have LARGE bolsters. I equate the feel of the seat to that of a child safety seat. Once you're in, the bolsters hug your thighs, hips and mid-section. The BIG problem is getting in and out of the darn things. My son is slim and trim and doesn't have any issues, but with my fat a$$ (belly), getting in and out of the seat is a royal pain. So much so, that rather than get in his car and drive it out of the garage, I'll reach in, pop her in nuetral and push the car out of my way. I really do not like getting in and out of his car and will avoid it whenever I can.

I like bucket seats like the pro car seats. I love to feel like I am in place and not moving around. But I think those seats are not within the budget. I heard Integra Seats will work. So I am looking into a set of those. I know they are bolstered pretty good and possibly have adjustable lumbar which would be perfect. I know those are going to be pretty light as well. So I will see what I can find and post pictures of what I end up with. I still need to understand what is all involved in making different seats be able to bolt into the mustang. I'm learning one day at a time.

I have the Corbeau seats in my '66, and Foxbody Mustang GT seats in my '69. The Foxbody seats were $50 for the pair and are more comfortable than the Corbeau seats.

The Mustang GT seats have adjustable thigh bolsteres, adjustable thigh supports and electric lumbar supports.
