Mowing the grass....

I often find myself dwelling on "time to mow the grass again". With a fairly large sized yard, flower beds, shrubs, bushes, etc., etc.... yardwork can easily consume every Saturday of every weekend all Spring/Summer long and it tires me.
Today I received this email and was reminded how lucky I am to be able to spend each Saturday "slaving" over the yard.
Subject: Mowing Grass - Priceless
I hope the picture will go through for you - of thisSoldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.
If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.
Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.

Kidding aside, Dave that is awesome. I can imagine how jealous his buddies are, yet how appreciative they are when he let's them walk the lawn.

Nice post. Yea right, a softer side of Dave....lol
Having been stationed overseas (no family) in a different time of life, it is really the little things that bring it to reality. Just a little something to keep a person focused.
I believe the time I spent away from my family really brought to me a different outlook on family vs "things" in life. A lot of military people I talk to have that same feeling based on where and when they were overseas.
