Lots of dreamers in Reno
« on: August, 08, 2009, 03:08:38 PM »
I was amazed at how high the bidding got on some of the cars going across the auction block at Hot August Nights in Reno.  I was MORE amazed, though, at the reserves on these cars!

We saw a very nice '67 fastback C code go across the block.  Looked really good, but it was nothing terribly special.  Not a concourse car, but very stock.  The bidding went to $30,000 and the car didn't sell because it was not even CLOSE to the reserve.  HUH?

I did see a real nice '68 Camaro with no reserve go for $16,500.  I'm sure the owner saw that Mustang get $30k in bids and thought she was going to make out like a bandit.  She had a rude awakening, and she was NOT a happy camper.

The reserves on the Woody Wagons were in the $80k range.  WOW!  They were getting bids in the $60's, but no where close to the incredible reserves.  I had no idea those things brought that kind of money!
