sequential tail lights for Shag or not?
« on: August, 06, 2009, 08:17:06 AM »
Red has them because the car is pretty modified but I'm trying to keep Shag somewhat traditional and semi stock looking.  Opinion please (except for kbmwrs for I already know his thumbs down vote).

I'd go for it.  They are a subtle mod.

I see no question if you are trying to stay traditional and stock looking. No... If you need to buy some to feel better, I will let you buy me a set for the '66.

I vote no for sequentials.......but yes to LEDS for visibility and safety (even though you didn't ask.)

I say no, and no to LED's :P  With good wiring and good chromed housings, you shouldn't need LED's.

I have mustang projects taillights but they are non-sesquential. I kinda wish I had gone the other route, they are kinda cool.

I'm not a huge fan... and especially since your going for the stock look I vote no.

I think you should definitely upgrade to LED lights (brighter is better), but if you're waffling, just skip the sequential option.

Well I guess that answers that. Gay, Gay, all the way !!!!.     :hug2  :3sum

Yes Rick is right (huh?).   Per Mustang Project, the only difference is the flasher.  So I'll probably start out sequential  for I kinda agree with Midlife (another huh?) that it is a very subtle mod and if I don't like it, I'll trade with Rick or buy a non sequential flasher for a whopping $24.  but the bright LED's spell  S-A-F-E-T-Y.

BTW, I just realized that forgot to mention that I already have the sequential system but now that I'm installing the taillights, I needed to make the decision on staying with them or return them for non-seq's.  Knowing that I can go back and forth between seq and non-seq without tearing out the tail lights is nice.

It's a subtle mod, YOU never see it (to hell with the people behind you) and I bet many non-Mustang people would think it's original anyway, I say go for it.

I say go for it. I have always liked them. I even checked into them for the 95 but to do it I would have to change to 96-98 tail lights.

Don't do it. If you want a mod, do like Ryan suggested with the LED's.

I vote for non-seq. Good idea for installing LED's. That was one of the first mods I did, because, even when fully restored, the stock lights are way too dim.

Here's a view that people rarely see (since their in front) of how bright the tail lights are in full sun.......maybe I should go with LED's for when they lap me!

I say yes.  They're entirely unobtrusive and add a bit of snazz to the car.  Also, there's the increased safety of all that LED lighting goodness.

I think leds are the way to go too.  Others are just not visible enough

Do not want. Would not buy. LEDs are a great idea, but sequentials in the stock taillights looks too out of place for me.

Well I don't know how the sequential lights look in the stock tail lights but since the lights appear to be three different parts it might be cool. I have the sequential tail lights on my Cougar lights and get lots of compliments on them. I had to add relays due to the increase in bulbs and that also made the tail lights brighter with out LEDs. Unless the lights are blinking you won't see the mod and as was already said, most people won't know or think it's a mod anyway. I can't tell you how many people ask me if my Eleanor-ish Coupe is a real Shelby! People just don't know much about older cars anymore. I don't think it's  :gobp!
