Is summit cheaper than tire rack?

You can get the Nitto's at Discount tires for $93 and free shipping. I just bought a set of NT-01's from them.

Why 2 diff sizes?  can't rotate em then.

i like the aggressive muscle look and more rear grip. i'm checking other vendors... Discount Tire didn't have a wide variety like Summit. TireRack i'm checking now.

remember i'm in tropical South Florida. Nitto NT01's are optimized for dry racing conditions!

comparing vendors... i would save roughly $7 on the BFG Radial T/A option with TireRack over Summit.

I have BFG T/A Radials (235/60/15) on the back of the '66. Fair dry traction, crappy wet traction.

I have Nitto 450's (275/50/17) on the rear of th '07 GT Vert. Nice dry traction, crappy wet traction.

I have yet to find a decent wet traction tire.

Those are what I'm using on my '66 and I have no complaints.  I've gotten caught in a couple of bad T-storms where there was inches of water on the road and they never lost traction.

Radial T/A's are plain crap for performance.  Drag radials aren't great for the street or in the rain.  The Mickey Thompson ET Streets are basically drag radials.  Their Radial S/R's are supposed to be a little more street friendly with good dry traction, but they're not going to be a great handling tire.    Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's are some of the best wet/dry tires you can get, but I don't believe they're available in a size close to what you're looking at.

G-Force sports are the way to go if you don't want to spend a lot of money but want a good all around sporty tire.  If you want something better than that, you're likely going to have to go with a bigger wheel.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BFG-92737/

should i go smaller in the front 215/50R15... would i get good stopping power in combo with the Cobra Auto big brakes?

I always stick with the same size tires and wheels, good for rotating. Those brakes are gonna make your eyes pop out regardless of the size of tire you put on.

What pads did you get?

Did you get the R4S pads for the street? Those don't need much heat to stop the car.

I would bet it's the R4S pads, the R4's are for track and take some heat to work at their best. The street pads are OK when cold, but do a few hard stops in them to give them some heat and they'll stop you pretty fast!!

Make sure you bed them in properly, they are a bit different then OTC pads.

just talked to Scott, and yes, the brake pads are R4S. thanx for the heads up. by bed, do you mean doing a few hard stops?

and finally, the big crate is being shipped today!! been on hold for close to a month.

Here are a couple links to properly bed in the pads, very important that you do this!

wow, never knew about bedding brakes until now. thanx!

just hope everything bolts up easy... especially 2-piece 15" wheels over 12" rotors, so i can bed the brakes on an isolated long road.
