Dynacorn??
« on: February, 02, 2012, 04:54:23 PM »
I received one of my quarter skins I ordered a month ago from CJ Pony today. I had ordered a pair of Dynacorn quarter skins http://www.cjponyparts.com/dynacorn-quarter-panel-skin-1965-1966/p/3645D/
and they went on backorder. I didn't need them right away so it was fine.
I opened the box tonight and this is the sticker on the metal itself.
There are 2 other stickers on the bubblewrap but this one is on the metal itself.
I'm thinking it isn't a Dynacorn part :rant

I don't the Dynacorn door skin had any stickers on it. The bubble wrap just has CJ's part number on which was the number on the Web site.

The bubble wrap has the CJ sticker and a dii number taped onto the bubble wrap. I emailed customer service with that picture since they are closed now to see.

Goodmark uses CHL to import sheetmetal...
http://www.importers-directory.net/companies/Goodmark_Industries_Inc.html

Goodmark's catalog shows the 3020-600-64L part number here...
http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/c-646-quarter-panel.aspx

CJs $97 for Dynacorn,  Goodmark shows them for $46

Yep, our government buys "clunkers" and smushes them into little boxes, they are then sold to Tiawan where they are smelted and molded into NEW MUSTANG BODYS and returned to the United States and sold back to people hung up on driving a 45 year old cars. Isn't that great.

Q: What do you call a basement full of Liberals?   A: A wine cellar.
Our Congress still sucks.

That's about it.  :rant

Got a gift card for Christmas for CJ so that's where I bought
Also shipping on the Goodmark makes it close to $70
If what I got is Dynacorn then fine, i'm not up to speed on who makes what and where.
I trust the sticker attached to the metal more than I do the bubble wrap though.

Before tossing the possible non dynacorn metal out the door, how about seeing if infact it will work for you?  I mean, what if ?

This. Who's to say that Dynacorn isn't buying the same part and just tossing thier name on it. Been known to happen. I used to work at an aluminum foundry and every couple of years we'd get an order for certain Jaguar parts from 3 different places. Same parts,3 different resto places. So it could be Dynacorn or one of the other brands thats making the same part.

All my dynacorn parts had dynacorn stickers on them, my guess is that that is a Goodmark part based on the other evidence...  Not to say it is not made in the same exact factory in Taiwan, it might be...  I would see how it fits before making it an issue...

By the way, the best way to remove those stupid stickers is to heat the back of the panel with a propane torch, it will peel right off when it gets hot enough...
408W, Tremec TKO600, 9" Traction-Lock w/ 3.50 gears and Hiedt's 4-Link, 17" Vintage 45's w/235/45/17 all around

I peel it off on the parts that have them,Then use alittle acetone. Takes off any residue without marring it.

This is the answer I got from CJ today
Quote
Dynacorn is essentially a brand name, their products still gets made overseas but they advertise and put their name out more than the other manufacturers. Their products tend to have a better stamping and in certain cases use thicker metal but are still made out of the USA.

I wanted to check before I used it, also it will be several months before I am ready to put these on so I wanted to double check first.

I ran across a retail company selling both the Dynacorn and Goodmark panels on the same sight. It suggest there is a differ in the two. My computer craped out but I will do a search and see if I can find it. There was about 50% difference in the price.
