I've read some info about a voltage spike that occures when you are trying to start your car and the starter actually stays engauged for a few milliseconds after releasing the key and thus in time will cause either the run or start circuit to burn up. I think it may have happened on my silver car which has a modern day starter with the "on the starter" solenoid controlled from the heavy starter cable from the original solenoid (small jumper wire to engauge the on the starter solenoid). Never thought about this when I built the car but I think I can see how it can happen. Anyway, theres no power now on the run side of the switch  and before I change it out I thought I would seek some wisdom.

I can't really help you with this new-fangled gadgetry, but I have seen some arguments against the one wire starters.
