J. your fab work is awesome as usual.  I can't help but wonder though, wouldn't it be much easier to bend a piece of steel, something similar to what jonk posted?

Where did you get your heim joints from?  I've been looking for some.

From Speedway:
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Chrome-Plated-Moly-Body-Rod-Ends-Heim-Joints-LH,7063.html

And yes, it would have been hella easier to bend and.or weld up some end brackets.  But I like this better.

I guess mine looks like a bent piece of metal but it's a rod clevis from CRC. I found it in Daze's instructions I used as a guide to build my own but I used the 3/4" RC-07 for my '67 vs. Daze's RC-05 7/16" for his '64 1/2.

I got my rod ends/swedge tubes from speedway also and bolts from Fastenal.

Mind sharing where you found the tube coupling?  It doesn't look like the standard swedged one everyone else uses!

You mean the heims joints?

If so, I ordered them from speedway.  I thought I posted a link to the heims earlier in the post.

Ah, I see.  And yes, Steve is correct.  I had to enlarge the O.D. just a bit and then tap the fine threads.

And I did get them powder coated and installed.  They fit fine - except i had to change from a standard nut to a jamb nut.

Now I need an alignment.  Big time.

I will post some pics of the finished pieces and the inner bushings that I made.

Sounds like an alignment party at Bob's!

When?  Needs to happen in less than 4 months.

And I am finally getting around to uploading the rest of the pics of the bushing spacer and the powder finish.  Sorry it took so long.

I made these bushings to take of the slack of the old rubber bushings in the strut rod mounting holes:

It's actually 3/8/ steel cut out with an 1-5/8" hole saw.  The I.D. of the hole saw was the exact fit.  Center drilled out to a tight 5/8".

The spacer fits the hole perfectly:

Stut rod temporarily installed.  It fit - but the regular nut was touching just a tad, so I changed to a jamb nut for final assembly:

And as far as the nut retaining side, I wasn't comfortable with just the 5/8" washer over that enlarged hole - it just wasn't big enough in my opinion so I cut out my own heavy duty, enlarged washers.  Note the middle is the standard 5/8" washer in comparison to my cut spacer on top - not much size difference.  My fab'd one on the bottom.  Much larger:

And here they are powder coated and finished:

Now to do some undercarriage cleaning and repainting....  :hide

My place?

All you have to do is put the word out. I think Bob has all the stuff to align, but if not, I can bring my C/C gauge and toe checker thingamabob.

Winna winna chicken Dinah!  That's where I had the chunk the wrong direction in the drill press. I meant to weld it up but forgot. Now I just say "that's the left one".
