Knotts Weekend 2012
« on: December, 19, 2011, 11:49:00 PM »
I know we'll probably be chatting this up starting in January, but I just came across a news blurb that the Wally Parks Museum is hosting a big Cobra/Shelby Reunion the same weekend, including road racing at Pomona.  Sounds like an interesting road trip / diversion for Saturday.

Who needs to cruise the beach!  Spend the day in Pomona and even find a place to eat out there!!!!!!

I am so in!  I will get the time off secured as soon as I can....Amber too!  We may have to bring both cars to this one!

Can we get some track time?

I'm planning to be there this year. If there's track time, I will do ANYTHING POSSIBLE to be there. I got the autocrossing bug bad since I tried it a few times. I might not put the car in the actual show, but will be there for all the festivities.

WOW! $699 gets you an all access pass that's also good for 3 track days. That's a BARGAIN!

A check on google maps shows Pomona is NE Buena Bark by approx 29 miles.  It sounds like a great event.

I guess the 91 to the 57 would be ok wouldnt save much time tho have to figure out how popular Pomona event would be line usually starts on freeway off ramp then slowly up a hill usually see a couple cars off to the side that overheat.... Not saying mine would not sure I wanna test tho.  Another proposed route beach to lambert past Boyd coddington's old shop to harbor to the 60 to 57 to the 10 :steer

I'll miss the Bellmount Brewery thing if it's a nogo - really enjoyed that one over the years.

Well I for one think this is a great idea.

As for the Belmont Brewery thing...we need to change it up a bit so this would do it.

So no BB dinner, just the meet up at Pomona and wing it.

The Outback Friday night is still on though. :thu

Just looking at the price to actually get on the track. I might have missed something but it looks like the $699 one is the only way to get actual track time? Even still, for the opportunity to have track time with other classics like ours...I might be up for that. Not that I don't mind racing Miatas and WRXs either...but this is cooler.

Been out of town this week, came home to find the Knott's registration form in my pile of mail. Going to be a little different for me as well this year. Going to the show solo this year, Dad is now living in an assisted care facility. Was going to bring the SWMBO to the BB, but if that has changed I am not sure. But definitely looking forward to Friday night at the Outback.

101st Annual StangFix Knotts Weekend 2012

Knotts StangFix agenda (Apr 20th - Apr 22nd):
Friday Night: Drinks & Dinner
Saturday: Cruise to Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion in Pomona
Sunday: Knotts SHOW
Sunday Night: "Those Who Stayed Over Dinner'
Monday: Cruise home

Friday morning cruise in for those from NorCal (Apr 20th)
Central Valley folks make your plans.
I will be trying to go in the way I come out of LA this time.
101 S, Oxnard Hwy 1 S, Malibu I-10 E, I-405 S, I-105 E, I-110 S, Hwy 91 E, Beach Blvd S

Suggest motel: Marriott Courtyad, 7621 Beach Boulevard, Buena Park, California, 90620
This is where most of us from NorCal end up staying.

Friday night: Caual get-together, drinks, dinner, talk
Where: Outback Steakhouse, 7575 Beach Blvd, about 1/2 mile north of Knotts
Time: approximately 6pm

Saturday: Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion (Apr21st)
Where: Fairplex at Pomona, 1101 West McKinley Ave, Pomona
Time: no set time.......may join up at Courtyard in the morning for a cruise up there.

Saturday night:
Well we'll change it up this year.
Since the Pomona event will be quite taxing I took a suggestion (SacBill) that we just 'hang-out' at a ground floor room at Marriott Courtyard and order up some pizza or the like when we get back.
Or hook-up with others and go out to dinner on your own. It's your choice.

Sunday Morning meet-up before the show
Where: All Star Donuts /Polo Loco /Chevron at LaPalma ave. & Valley View St.
Time: 08:00 AM

Sunday Noon Knotts Stang Fix Pic
Where: meet in the center grass area near announcer (look for a large group in a daze)
Time: 12:00 noon

Sunday 22Apr: 'Those Who Stayed Over Dinner'
Where: Knotts Hotel, Amber Waves Restaurant
Time: 6:00PM
Reservation under: Stangfix
Contact: Bill Fuller (SacBill) with PM to RSVP
Amber Waves is no longer doing the buffet on Sunday night, so you will have to order off the menu....average price is $10-$15.

That's about it. It should be a great week-end as uaual. See you all there.

Thanks for posting the weekend's details, Mike!  Can anyone local to Knotts suggest a kick-@ss pizzeria that does delivery...so we don't have to be calling up Dominos?   :puk

So...is anybody planning on showing their car at the Pomona show-n-shine on Saturday, or just attending?  I think I'm going to put my car in the Saturday show-n-shine.

Is there a "lanai" to hang out on at the hotel for the Saturday night get together?  That'd be a lot of dudes in one room... :homo
