Uh Oh! WTF have I done?
« on: December, 07, 2011, 05:44:19 PM »
Yup,
I've taken on a new Mustang project.  A local Mustang shop has asked me to do the suspension, brake system and drivetrain on this 65 A code vert that the owner is turning into a GT.  Just arrived today so I have spent zero time on it as of yet and will probably not touch it for a couple weeks,  for I want to talk to the owner regarding rebuilding the rear end, replacing the rear axle seals, bearings, etc. New rear and front springs. Already put Opentracker perches and idler arm on it.  Front drums turning into discs. Who knows what else I'm doing to it.

This should keep me busy during the winter.

That's super, Craig!  I can see you doing this as a second job as you get older.  Nothing like having a hobby that puts a few coins in your pocket.

If I bring my car up there, can you:

1) install the TCP subframe connectors I bought 6 or 7 years ago on a VMF group buy?
2) Install the monte carlo bar I bought from you
3) install the streetortrack.com export brace replacement I bought from Shaun
4) install a rear end gear oil trap
5) roll my rear fender lips

Huh, eh huh?

You getting paid... or pro-bono?

All winter seems like a lot to pay for.

Jer,
It's not an all winter long project for me. All I'm doing as mentioned earlier is suspension, brakes and stab in the motor and tranny.  It will go back to the shop for all the interior/dash/exterior parts assembly.     I will work on it at my chosen pace, though odds are I will probably pump through it sooner than currently projected.  Yes my weekends and late afternoons will be full.  I get hourly paid whenever I turn in an invoice for that week's work.

Ahhhh... I see now. Currently looking at windage trays, and for some reason that made me think about similar for the gear. SInce it runs IN the oil, I'm thinking that wouldn't work to well.

Hats off to you Craig. Even though I have totally restored many cars over the years {all Ford ...lol} I don't think I could ever do this for pay as I don't see anyone around my area who understands the cost of resto on these vintage ride's.

Good luck. :wor

Wow to mike's point where are the tire racks. Soon you will have a lift in the shop. Craig does amazing work!  It's expensive having someone else work on your car especially in CA.
