Dang it!
« on: November, 27, 2011, 07:51:41 AM »
I haven't been really happy with my stock 5.0 serpentine bracket setup I'm putting on my fastback because it spreads out all of the components (a/c compressor, alternator, etc.) and makes everything look so big on the front of my motor.  Overall it looks nice because everything is powdercoated or painted with stainless fasteners and will work like it's supposed to.

But, I was at the Houston Autorama yesterday and saw a Vintage Air frontrunner setup that one of my customers put on his 66 Mustang.  Vintage air has really made a nice setup keeping everything tightly squeezed together and even plumbed the heater and a/c hoses where they come out very low.  That's better for me because one of my goals is to hide as much plumbing and wiring as possible.  Everything is below the valve covers and the a/c compressor is pretty small.

So, after all of the money powdercoating and customizing the factory 5.0 setup, I think I'm throwing in the towel and buying a Vintage Air setup.  I don't want to look at the car later and kick myself in the rear for not doing it the way I want the first time.  I guess I'll work on other things like wiring and interior for now and save up some more for the engine compartment.

I heard Vintage Air stuff is pretty nice.  I might be installing one of their setups in another person's Mustang in the near future.
