We are not. My kids are 24 and 25. They can buy their own candy!

Trick or treat was Saturday in our neighborhood and we were on a plane coming home from California.
I do have trick or treat at work from 5to7 so I will be handing out candy there.

We will not be participating in Halloween. With a one month old who's extremely fussy tonight and fighting sleep, and a dog that tries to kill anything that comes to the door, we'll sit this one out this year.

I just rode my bike home from work. Jeff Tepper's neighborhood was HOPPIN'! Willow St. is a main through road but still residential. 8:45 and the sidewalks were FULL of people and the headlights were non-stop through Willow Glen. I crossed Meridian Ave. to my neighborhood and it was DEAD, as usual. I think the parents in my neighborhood take their kids to the "rich" neighborhood.

We took the 4yr old trick or treating last night, and handed out candy afterwards. After putting the kid to bed, we left the candy out on the porch in a big glass bowl so people wouldn't keep ringing the doorbell. An hour later, the candy and the bowl were gone:-| Seriously?

Pretty decent night in my neighborhood last night. There wasn't as many kids as last year here.

I dressed up (and if you ask nicely, I might post a pic) and went over to a friends house and we sat outside and handed out candy. My son, accompanied by his older sister, went around and got his candy.

We normally have about 8-12 kids. This year there were about 40. A couple of mini vans that pulled up in front of the house and 15 kids started running across the yard (invasion of the zombie midgets) and that put a big dent in the candy bowl. Needless to say this year we ran out early.

You're right about the crowds, it was virtually non-stop from about 6:30 'till we burned through about 10 pounds of Halloween candy by around 8:30! The kids were still coming @ 9:00 but by then, most of them were older and most looked like they were bused in from somewhere else!! Though I usually get doorbell duty on Halloween, my wife really got into it this year and even dressed in costume to greet the kids at the door.

Halloween is a big deal at our house. Our neighborhood is loaded with kids and the doorbell starts ringing at about 4 when they get home from school and keeps going right up until about 9.
This year I decided that since my youngest is almost 8, it was time we got back to the "scary" for the evening. I built a gothic looking gate and fence facade and added a few animated ghouls to the graveyard and dared the kids to come up to the door. I couldn't get any decent night shots with my camera but with all the green and blue spots I had lighting the place up it looked pretty good.

Anybody else like to decorate their house/yard for the night?

Wife went with the boys and several of their friends around our neighborhood to trick or treat.

I sat at home watching Halloween on TV and answering the door.

We probably had 30 kids or so come by.
