Finally had a chance to finish the toploader Saturday and ad heim ends to the stock Hurst linkage. Shifts real smooth, crisp and tight. I'll wait to fill it with fluid until I have it mounted back to the bell housing and ready to go back in the car.

Thanks to Tony (Comic) for convincing me to just modify the stock linkage. It was a pretty simple job.

Sunday, I went to a buddy's house and helped him install a new solid surface c-top, sink, stove, under hood m-wave and a dishwasher. I need a break from the weekend.

Sure would be nice to have some windows behind a work bench like that.

Just need a few 2x's and the windows. Cut hole in garage, install, enjoy.

Raining here, but a few teaser peektures that I squeezed off in the dark garage... Good ones to come as soon as all the winter projects are completed. You can see glimpses of the orange Konis and tires too... I've spent under $1000 total, including the brakes, shocks, struts, tires & headlight set...  :wth

A couple shots of the front brakes: (New 73mm calipers, hardware, Hawk pads, cryo-treated Powerslot rotors, <$200 invested!)

Must be a transmission week? I have been so busy i got a little time this weekend to LOOK at my car for an hour, But saturday some kid called on my craigslist add for my C4 We swapped trannys, I got the better deal I traded my C4 no bell/no tc/ and a B&M ratchet for this T5 World Class W/bell/new clutch/flywheel/clutch fork- I tore it down today and was amazed, It's like new  :yah :yah :yah  after a good cleaning it should be tip top Shifts smooth just like Marks.-  I also put in my clutch pedal/bushings/and Modern Drive clutch pedal mounts Very pleased with how my luck is turning! :yah

In case you are not aware,  most if not all T5 equipped cars had the 50 oz imbalanced flywheel... if your engine is an earlier 28oz imbalance,  then you'll want to be sure you've got a correct 28oz flywheel.

Continuing my snail's pace to an engine swap, today I removed the exhaust

and the tranny and bell.

The 3-day weekend's over and I'll have to wait till Saturday to make use of my new engine hoist and the carb plate I borrowed from craigmayna. Is it a rule that everything takes two or three times longer than you thought it would?  I did however bolt an intake onto the broken engine and torqued the carb plate to that.

I drive mine every chance I get. My $250 differential is starting to make noise and act like it has a locker in it! Weird. I guess I will have to yank it out and see what's going on before I break another one!

Married to Tara, that makes me the TARA-fied one!

How much is that hydraulic TO bearing setup?

Did you just open it up or completely strip the clusters? The T5's like to shred the bearing between the input and output shaft if the unit is run low on fluid. Also the blocker rings (fiber) may look good till you remove them. The tranny will shit fine till the input shaft is spinning and trying to mesh the output shaft :)

I'd think about refreshing it with new guts while you have it open (bearings, seals and blocker rings). Also don't use RTV on the reassemble. I'd get anaerobic flexible sealer as ATF attacks RTV and makes it leak down the road. Also check the teflon tabs on the shift forks. If they are broken it is a sign the fork has been bent.

That's a McLeod brand TO bearing and it cost $549 from Dark Horse Performance in January 2006.

I tore it apart completely, Thanks for the heads up on the RTV I wasn't thinking about that. And from what i've heard about the T5's ability to handle power it probably will shit fine- :yah J/K Thanks for the tips!

My lucky day today...  I FINALLY scored the factory correct Pioneer KEH8100QR stereo for the Saleen today. http://www.ebay.com/itm/200716548991   :thu This is only the 3rd one I've seen in the last 18 months, and the others both went for big money. This guy didn't list the model # in the ad, which probably cost him at least a $100.  :hs
I think I'm just going to check it over, clean it up and store it in my parts stash for future value. Really happy with the vintage Pioneer setup that's already in the car...   :roll
