Interesting door handles

Saw this on TV the other day. Wonder how they would look on a classic mustang?  :confu

At $650 for chrome.....the rest of the car would have to be like the Ring Bros. with lots of bling.....in my old man opinion...lol

They look cool and all, but not $600 worth of cool.

I couldn't afford $650 for DOOR HANDLES... when I could buy disc brakes or interior pieces. But who knows... maybe if I'm really nice (or would that be naughty?  :confu) "Santa" will get me these for Christmas.

+1 I thought the same thing when I looked at them...WOW, pretty darn cool. THEN I saw the price. OUCH!! And I thought the price for stock NOS handles was on the ridiculous side...HA!

I really like those.  My buddy has a 52 facel vega.  Very similar stock door handles on that thing.  I've even mentioned to him about copying them some time.  I surely wouldn't pay the 650.

Saw those on Gearz...

I saw that episode, neat handles but IIRC, there was some cutting + welding needed to install them on Stacey's '67 Cougar.

Those handles look like something a junior in shop class came up with. At least that's what I thought when I saw Stacy welding them in the door.

Not a fan at all.

I would like flush handles but not that design.  Plus, at that price, I think I can get my son Steven to mill me something!

These are the first flush handles I have seen that I like on a classic. The reasoning Stacey gives in the video is exactly why. I may have bought them had I known about them prior to paint.

It may seem like a lot of cash but someone has to pay for the development on new parts. There are many of you who didn't blink at similar cost for a plastic headliner which, after all the development and mold costs, is very inexpensive to make as well. Parts like these are bought by only a very small percentage of classic owners. It takes a long time to sell enough units to cover the costs before someone starts to make any profit. Being innovative and unique has it's price!

No wonder she likes it.

I couldn't agree more. It takes a long time to recoup all of your tooling cost before you see a profit, and the more products you make the longer it is.

I would agree with Rich, agreeing with Terry. I still wouldn't like the style of handle even if it $20.

Might look ok on a heavily moded car but I've been going for a somewhat stock look on mine so not for me.

@ $650 though seems like a huge rip off to me, I can find a lot of other things to spend $650 on that would help the car perform better.

Before i spent that kind of money, i think i would go with the old lincoln pushbutton handles. they would add a streamlined appearance & look like more of a period addition. lot less $$$ too.

whoa whoa whoa, how about some more detail on those.    I like them alot.  There would have to be a spring to push the door out right?

without having installed a set in anything yet (almost put them in my 36). i can't say exactly how the originals worked, but would assume if linkage couldn't be easily fabricated to adapt them to mustang latches that a remote solenoid system could easily be used. you could fabricate a plate with a waterproof pin switch behind the button that would trigger the solenoid each time the button was pushed. wouldn't think a door assist spring would be needed if the original latches were retained. i've installed numerous sets of remotes etc. when suiciding doors & only 1 or 2 times has there been a need to add a door pusher, usually when a door has required ALOT of work to fit the car. in my experience, the door pushers usually put too much preload on the latch, causing  problems with the latches binding against the strikers & make the doors hard to open.
