Tach wiring
« on: March, 18, 2009, 10:24:56 AM »
Since my car was not originally a tach car, what do I need to do to wire in my Autometer tach.

My ignition is pretty much all MSD, Coil, Dizzy (8579) and MSD 6AL box. The Autometer tach is in the gaugel cluster.

You MSD box should have a tach output wire - correct?  Maybe Green?

You just need a switched hot 12V to the tach ( I used the pink wire from my ignition switch for this.  The pink wire also controls a relay now providing switched hot to my ignition box - getting straight 12V from the battery),  the input tach source wire from the ignition box, and a switched lighting circuit for the lamp illumination and the ground (I used the stock wire from the harness for the lights).

I just did this on mine with my conversion.  Very simple.
