Thought it might be a fun idea to do this. Here is my build sheet of all the parts/tools etc I've had to buy to restore my stang so far. Thought it be cool for us to share these and see the similarites/differences in them. We dont have to include money and things like that just the items themselves. Mine barely fits on 11x17 piece of paper. Didnt think it be this big when I bought the car.

I have an excel spreadsheet for mine--I don't like looking at it ($15K the last time I looked).

yea thats what I have, I just converted it into a pdf to post. Im sure if I had the engine built and a shop do most of the work I might of been around 15K. Didnt have the option of spending that much thats why I took on the task of doing it all.

For a while there I was keeping everything on a nice spreadsheet. Then it just got too depressing. Here's a quick look at some of the parts and their costs so far. Also interesting is to see how much I spent on media blasting (whole car plus LOTS of parts, some not even for this car), having it epoxied by the blaster and what I spent on paint and other supplies to paint the car myself in my garage. What isn't here, aside from anything I bought in the last year or so, is the cost of the booth I built (probably a couple hundred anyway) and all the new tools I picked up.

I've still got to buy a new transmission, complete narrowed rear end and, oh yeah, probably needs to have an engine! Wheels and tires. Reupholster my Fiero seats. Fuel cell and pump/filter/lines. Battery and relocation to trunk. Bumpers......

Now I'm depressed again.

wow Horseplay, alot of good things on that list.

The way I look at it is that my list will probaly be forever growing cause Im sure Ill slowly want to upgrade things as I go along.

and it all just sits there in the garage mocking me.

It does look like things are changing around here and I will be able to get back to working on it again very soon. It won't be driving down the street this summer but it may at least look like it could.

I stopped entering receipts when the total started making me nauseous. I know the ball park though. :(

+1. Now I scatter receipts around the premises and at work. I'm beyond 10k not counting paint and body supplies and the cost of the car itself. I don't want to know the total.

The body was stripped to bare metal but the underside is still mostly original. 85% of that 10k is in the driveline.

I throw all my receipts in a file and never look at them again. I tried to start a spreadsheet but It's too depressing . Once I exceeded the value of the car I stopped adding it up. I know I have spent a ton of money on tools too.
I am going way over budget on my engine swap. And I haven't even gotten to any body work yet.

I should sell it before I go bankrupt.

Yep, me too. I do not want to know what I have in it, especially in it's current paperweight status.

I have a list but don't want to add it up.

I tell all of my customers to never add up what's in the car. Just enjoy it.

I gave up keeping track on the first truck I restored years ago (1945 Ford pickup done in 1967). Wife can tell you to the penny what has been spent on each and every vehicle, plus what it sold for and any variances in the selling/giving away of extra parts..............and I don't ask.

Oh and I added more. Forgot about the dual master cylinder, conversion lines, LED sequential lights, tail light bezels, fender apron, trans cooler.... up to $6781.44!

I must have missed something somewhere. Where have you already got almost $7k spent on her restoration? Are you including the price you paid for the car itself? Share that sheet!

I've got a pretty decent ballpark figure in my head of what I've spent on the Mustang...I know what I'd have to sell it at to not loose money at any rate. Probably won't be selling it for a long time, LOL!

Yes, that was the $5,000 purchase price included.

I adjusted the number some (found some receipts with exact cost).
