Thinking about safer alternatives to the stock 65 setup. don't want to spend $1000 on a rubber bladder (which seems to be the safest) in a can version. But in my limited research, it seems like the plastic ones that are mounted in a steel box (about $200 from summit) with internal foam should reduce the risk of dying a firery death if ever rear ended. The stock fuel filler/rubber coupling scares me, I can imagine that being the first thing to separate in a rear end crash, effectively becoming a gasoline spraying nozzle....

The fuel cells are capped with a scew cap and vented out through a vent tube...

Anyone know about these things? to say this would be a safer arrangement? what about gas smell internal?

If you want opinion not supported by actual experience I can help you. I'm in agreement with you. As a matter of fact, that is probably the way I will go when I get to that point. I would be more concerned about function than safety anyway. We're talking about cars we put very little road time on, first off. Secondly, how many times have you been involved in a serious rear end collision so far?

Missed this one....

I have a Fuel Safe 16 gal Pro cell. It's a direct drop in and has worked fine so far. I really don't know if it lets in fumes since I never sealed the car up. It is vented to the outside and I removed the stock filler neck and fill direct into the cell.
