Engine compartments.........let's see 'em.
« on: April, 08, 2011, 08:58:11 AM »
I am hard at work on Fred's engine compartment and would like to see some shots of engine compartments from as many angles as I can.

Trying to figure out what is visible and what isn't when the engine is in.

Really, just about everything except the lower half of the inside face of the shock towers if someone wants to really look around. Besides, do you really want to leave some areas in a lesser state? Just my opinion.

So true....if it is under the hood and not matching the real visible areas......the first comment will be "wonder where else they took short cuts". Do it all the same.

My main concern was in regards to possibly addressing some of my previous welds that did the job but look nothing like what I am doing now.

Just wanting everything to somewhat look uniform but not that big of a deal.

The looks of the welds will also be effected by the color you paint the bay. Color matched needs a good metal look. The satin or flat black is more forgiving with rougher areas.

If you've got the engine out, strip it down and do it all.  Don't know if you going to use headers or stock setup, make sure to have them coated to prevent rust/discoloration.  I went with hi-po exhaust manifolds and in couple of months I had rust--a lot of work to coat them after the engine was in.

Hey Jack, looks to me like your choke is wired to the B+ terminal of your solenoid.  Wouldn't this make your coil hot all the time? (key on or off?)  I'm used to seeing them on the S term of the alt.  Just wondering, kip
