Anyone have a PC'ed master cylinder?

Does it stand up ok to accidental brake fluid spills?

Does it stay nice looking and not get rusty?

I'm asking because in exchange for me making a fellow mustangers powder coating website, I get some PC done on some stuff.

I'm going to have him do my valve covers and probably the master cylinder. About the only things I have to get PC'ed. lol

If I had options for free powder coating, I would do parts that will be seen.......since you do not open the hood.......lol

Master cylinder would have to be rebuilt after painted as powder coating heats the metal to around 400 degrees.......

Hmm, I wonder if he knows that and if he can rebuild it. I'll have to double check. If that's the case, and he is unable to rebuild it... then I guess I can find something else for him to do.

Yes, check with him about how he powder coats and the results along with the possibility of rebuilding the master cyl.

It would have to have everything stripped out of it as any rubber seals will be toast after it goes through the oven. Its also not impervious to brake fluid so any drips and spills will discolor it. It holds up a little better than paint but the fluid will still mess it up eventually.

Well blah on that idea. I guess I could just rattle can the MC a nice gloss black or something to make it look nice, and make it easier to touch up if needed. I hate the boring dull look, and since everyone keeps saying to make the engine bay nice, might as well spice things up under there!

Those original MT valve covers powder coated? How do you plan on keeping the fins the aluminum color or are you?

If you ruin them it just makes mine more valuable.

Had thoughts of pulling the engine in the 67 and painting the engine the same as the body and fixing the seals I didn't fix the first time on the firewall. Also want to upgrade the AC system. Need money though.

Yea my MT ones ... I'm going to keep them the same look (chrome/black) but the black is chipped & faded in some area's. I asked if he can make them look exactly the same, and he said he can.

I was thinking glossy black engine, shiney intake (chrome PC maybe), K&N air filter (black/red), chrome & black valve covers, black master cylinder w/chrome PC lid, alumnimum radiator, and shiney chrome PC export brace.

I blame this forum for making me even think of how to make the engine bay and all it's stuff look good.

Looks like you have caught the dreaded "While I'm at it" syndrome.

It starts with I just wanted to fix this and leads to I must do that because that other thing looks bad.

Just have your rear end powder coated. You'll be talk of the town afterwards.

Nuttin wrong with a black motor and engine bay with chrome and silver highlights
