Jonesing for one of these
« on: January, 17, 2011, 06:55:44 AM »
I want a 65 or 6 swb stepside bad now. My dad still has the one I grew up with in the barn. He won't come off of it though. After seeing these pics, it makes me want one. I'm digging the hotrod, ratrod, faux patina look.

Sweet truck. I'd love to have one of the '50s-early60's trucks.

There was a '65 chevy project truck near me that took over 2 months to sell last summer..  I so wanted to stop to take a closer look...  being knee deep in restoring my 65 El Camino I knew my wife would have shot me if I drug it home.   Years ago my neighbor built a '56 F100.  I wouldn't mind either.

Not the best picture, but the best one I came across without looking through 2000 unorganized on-line photos.

It's a '57 F100 and is my oldest sons daily driver.  402 Chevy BB motor, TH400, Ford 9" rearend.  The gas mileage is horrific single digits, but it's a fun ride.  Power steering, but with manual disc brakes.  The interior is modernized with a killer sound system.  He bought the car out of San Diego and had it shipped out here.  Zero rust on the truck.  He was looking for a '56, but came across this one and couldn't pass it up.

I picked up a 71 F100 last year(67-72 have the same body style); I wanted the same era truck to match my Mustang.  I plan to get it reliable enough to tow my Mustang on track days.

Now I just need to find a house to buy here in Salt Lake City.  Then, I can get all my stuff out of storage and start working on it again!
