Mustang playing cards
« on: November, 09, 2010, 06:55:55 PM »
Many months ago I saw and actually laid hands on a deck of VMF cards featuring members' Stangs.  Looking at guruatbol's picture gallery reminded me of these cards (his Captain America was a Joker).  My understanding is that the idea was nixed early on and so only a limited number of people have these cards.  Is this something we could do here at Stangfix?  Surely we could come up with 54 cars to grace a deck of cards.

I have several of them. Our orange 65 coup is the 7 of diamonds.

I didn't know it was Outlawboss that had these produced.  After reading of his adventures and misadventures with this, I wonder if he'd be willing to do it again.  Looks like nearly everyone was pleased in the end (except for one stick in the mud  :rant).

54 cards, huh?  We could work this a couple ways that may or may not be fair to select 54 cars.  Wait until we have 54 COTM's to use (might mean waiting a few more years), see how much interest we have in people throwing their name in the hat (might not even have 54 to start with), or offer it out as an auction of sorts, ie, top 54 bidders get their car included (perhaps along with a free deck once its ordered) and the proceeds go to either support the forum maintenance or a charity.

The Nor-Cal group used to get together to play poker and the car pics were sometimes an integral part of the game, wild cards were sometimes defined as "any 67 coupes" or "cars with Magnum 500's."  I'd like to see another set too, cars don't  have to be "finished" either.

I think that you can get them done at Walgreen's. If not, I am sure I can find a source.

Murphy is on one of the cards, I'd love Trouble to be in a new deck.

Trouble, 1968 Fastback - Modified
Moby, 1971 Mach I - Occasional Driver

I don't care if my car is on them or not but I do like the idea and the auction seams like a great idea to support the Fix!

Looky here:

Stay tuned.  I'm contact them as we speak.

Here's another site:

http://www.yourplayingcards.com/pricing_and_payment_methods.php

I was just looking at their website myself. They are saying $5 a deck for 500. The more you order the cheaper per deck.

If I knew my car was going to be one of the 54, I'd probabaly order at least 5 decks, maybe more, to send out to my dad and uncle, etc, who are mustang fans also.

This was my thought as well.

Before anyone gets too far with the research and stuff, we should check with Angelo (Outlawboss) so as to avoid duplication of effort.  If he doesn't want to handle it this time he can at least give valuable advice to whoever does.

We also need to get the OK to use the Stangfix logo on the backs...hopefully this process will be a lot less painful than it seemed to be on VMF.

Now that I think about it I recieved a pack of  these cards several years ago in a W.E. exchange. I never knew that there were pictures of members cars on them so I never opened the pack.   :shrug   Guess I'll gome home and shuffle thru them.
