Holley dripping from venturi booster- ideas? Pic and video
« on: July, 25, 2010, 01:42:37 PM »
Holley 4150 HP 750, at idle dripping from one of the boosters. Before I hit my Holley reference books, anyone have any ideas? Or, on edit, if it's supposed to drip, why the other primary one isn't. (Video link might take a minute to load...)

replying to myself, but Lowering the idle speed a bit stopped it- I think I'm pulling into the transition circuit. I'll look at the transition slot again.

What were you idling at and what are you at now?

I had just reinstalled the carb after some work and was idling around 1200 after it warmed up. After I tweaked all the mixture screws and dropped the idle screw as I went along, I'm at about 900 now. No drips anymore.
Along the way, I noticed my secondary throttle blades did not fully open at WOT although the primaries did. I had to tip them in a little with the screw on the underside so I could see the transition slot, and then still had to bend the rod that connects the throttle linkages to make it pull open all the way. Something to check!

Lastly, I installed the lokar throttle pedal assembly - nice light feel but I DO NOT like the position of the pedal. It does not hang as low as the stock one.

Yeah at 1200 you were probably just getting out of the idle circuit.

Could you cut the Lokar cable some so that the pedal goes lower to the floor?  You may not open the throttle all the way though. You'd have to check the throttle position as you press the pedal down, to see if it has to reach the floor to hit WOT.
