Waxed the primer and entered a show...
« on: July, 19, 2010, 08:15:03 PM »
Cleaned up the 69 and brought her out to the Syracuse Right Coast Nationals on Saturday. There were over 7000 cars there. Great event and growing every year! This is the first time entering a show. I wanted to drive the Stang but didnt want to park a mile away so I entered to get inside parking. I was hoping there was going to be a best primer class but no such luck..... The car ran great, it was a 50 mile trip one way. Some pics from the show.

Wish I could have went back on Sunday, too much to see in one day but I had plans to go up north too a camp on Sunday. The trip north was another good reason to take the Stang out. The was some real fun twisty roads on the trip. Heres the car parked at the rented camp.

So between dinner on Friday night, the show on Saturday and the run up north on Sunday, I put about 250 miles on the 69 and had a great time!

Yeah that car was sweet and was restored real well top to bottom. The 60K price tag was way too steep for clone though.....

Unsure on color at this point... Possibly silver jade. I love your car but I'm afraid of the maintenance of black. Most of my car was originally raven black.

At least your car was all one color.  That red-bodied Cuda with the blue hood can't say the same  :lol

I'm over 40k on mine (closing in on 50k as I finish it up) doing a relatively stock car.  If I was doing a clone, the cost in Shelby specific parts and fiberglass would easily put me over 60k in a hurry.

Believe it or not.... I really did.. I had greasy finger prints around the hood from fabbing up the soon to be finished shaker base so I washed it off with purple power degreaser which left it kinda bleached. I gave it quick once over with a waterless wash/wax. Came out pretty nice and the little shower we had, the water beaded right up...LOL. Car will be brought to bare metal when the 65 is done so not worried about a little wax in the primer.

Not sure what the 70 was set up... Looked like they were running it in nascar with the strips and all...

The yellow car next to you looks pretty nice.

Reminds me of a buddy of mine back in our high school days had a '57 Belair that was pretty much that color only his would run around high 10's or low 11's in the quarter.

No doubt that kinda money was invested. Just saying he would not be able to get it back out. I'm sure you know we are not building our dream cars as investments......

Ironically, my car was originally Silver Jade. Guess things have a way of balancing out. I thought long & hard about painting it SJ, but ultimately I fell to the power of the dark side. Next time, if there is one, I will go back to stock.

Sounds like a nice show you went to. Makes me want to hit the James Dean festival this year.

It was a great show! Dont miss the one next to you. Nothing motivates you more and keeps the interest up than going to shows and being surrounded by classics!
