Summit carb dual feed fuel line total junk

After reading about the Summit carb getting good reviews I went ahead and ordered two for a couple of my cars. Some of you said that the supplied fuel lines were kinda cheap, but boy is that an understatement.

Both of them leak like crazy at the secondary inlet. I tried switching lines first on the first carb I installed and that didn't help so next I tried the second carb and it leaked too. They're not cross threaded, I put them on finger tight before putting a wrench to them. I looked in different catalogs and went to local parts stores looking for a better fuel line but everything I find has AN fittings and stainless braided line...not the look I am going for.

I just can't use them with fuel leaking. Any ideas for a different line that won't stand out on an otherwise stock looking engine before I send these carbs back? I was really hoping to be able to use them and hopefully take care of my fuel problems.

I have a Summit carb and agree the line supplied with it leaked.  However, a Holley-brand line bought for another carb leaked too as the inlet lines were not perfectly straight into the carb inlet and it (somehow) allowed fuel to leak past the flare fitting. For my Summit carb, I had another Summit-brand line from the Holley it replaced that I'm now using but it has a built-in fuel filter and gauge, although the gauge can be deleted with the correct threaded plug:

with price, unk if it now comes with that dark "Summit" band, mine does not have a dark band but has "Summit" engraved on the filter:

I'm also using teflon tape to seal the threads, some other responses may say this is inappropriate but it works for me.

In your case, I'd take the carb off the car, put it on a workbench and really see if the flared fitting on the line fit true against the carb inlet w/o tightening the fittings.  I had to use a phillips inserted into the line to gently bend the line until both sections (dual feed) were going perfectly straight onto the carb fittings without stress onto the other. Then I'd put teflon tape on the threads and tighten them up.  Install the carb/lines onto the car as one unit.

If you do buy the Summit line I listed above, it's adjustable, but be advised it's approx 1/2 too long to fit the Summit.  Just slide the secondary line out of the primary, cut off 3/4" or so, clean-up the end and slide it back together.  No problems.

Call Summit - in the past, they have always sent me replacements. My summit line wasn't high quality, but the issue was the plating, it sealed fine.

Not to be stickler, but the above line will be too long for the Summit carb.  Summit sells their own lines, these have black fittings with a small braded line section, different AN sizes:

Yeah, a little caveat is that particular one may not fit.  I was mostly pointing out that there are black fittings and hose that can be used instead of the bright stainless and red/blue fittings.   My setup from Ebay (not Earls or any brand name) actually came disassembled, so I cut my hose length to fit and installed the hose into the fittings.  Its a bit more work, but ensures that it actually fits to your application.  I'd venture to guess that anything from Summit will already come assembled.

Thanks for the info guys. I've been at work since yesterday morning but I'll get back to it today. I'll pull the carb off the car and try to get the line seated on the bench first, if that doesn't help I'll contact Summit and see what they tell me. I think the carb will work great for me if I can get the line to stop leaking so hopefully Summit has had enough complaints about the line that they will have a fix for this problem.
