« on: May, 27, 2010, 03:53:56 PM »
hey all, was wondering what you do about the area where the nut and washer go on back of the shock tower where it doesnt sit flat against tower because of the reinforcing in that area? do u grind flat or use something to shimm it level?

When you tighten the nut, the tower reinforcement lip will eventually straighten out from the torque.

Unless it's a big block car with the extra tower reinforcement, it should have no more reinforcement at the new holes than it does the old holes, if they are drilled correctly.

A pic would work wonders at helping answer your question and a little more info. as far as year car.
Here's a pic of my '67 after I did a little overkill and added a reinforcement plate since I wasn't comfortable with the 1/2" of steel left between the two holes for possible spider cracking, probably not necessary but I generally overdo things...

I flattened mine using a flat nose Punch.
