Im in need of some new shock as my car floats terribly. Konis are on sale for $109 a piece and I can get all for of the kyb's for just over $100. Are the konis really worth all th eextra $ for a street car. Looking for better handling. Planning on doing roller perches, shelby drop, and lowering springs in the front while Im at it. How much will all of those lower my 69 with a 351w? Dont wanna go too low.

We just replaced Koni's for some Bilstein's we designed the curve and valved for my buddies 99 Camaro autox car. In back to back tests the Bilstein's were 1.2 seconds a lap quicker over a 52 second lap. Worth it? He thinks so. Should put him into the medals at Nationals this year based on lap times last year.

I just clicked on your link and was looking at all of the different types of Bilstein's; Race valving, Sport valving, and Street valving. Then I see KONI rebound adjustable shock absorber. So one difference is that the Koni can be adjusted? I forgot about that. I am watching the June 30th date as I plan to order a set of Konis for my 67. They will sit in the trunk for awhile, but I understand that is a very good price from Tire Rack.

You have to adjust the Koni between street settings and track settings, the Bilstein Sport for instance doesn't need to be adjusted due to the nature of its digressive piston. It's a great street or open track shock in one valving without having to adjust anything.

The linear valving of the Koni means you get whatever you set it to until you adjust it, the Bilstein (when valved correctly for the application like the ones we sell are) doesn't need adjusting.

I have bilsteins (from shaun) on my '68. replaced GR2's in the rear and I love the difference. I had under 200 miles on the KYB shocks, but the bilsteins are far and above better.

I have Koni shocks on my ride, and they are worth the extra cash. I strongly believe shocks have a major impact on how your car handles on the street or track.

However, if I were to do it all over again, I'd probably go with Bilstein shocks. Seems like many of the informed performance Mustang suppliers (Street or Track & Maier Racing, just to name a couple) are going with Bilsteins these days.

The GR-2 is KYB's "economy street shock". Comparing it to any performance shock would not be a valid comparison. There is a night and day difference just between the KYB Gas-Ajusts and the GR-2's. The GR-2's and Koni's is like comparing major league baseball to peewee league.
