What PCV valve for a stroker???
« on: May, 08, 2010, 08:37:12 AM »
This is my first stroker build and I am dialing it in...

The last issue is that it seems I have too much pressure in the crankcase and my PCV valve is not up to the task.

The engine is a 393W with a fairly aggressive hydraulic roller cam. At idle it draws between 12 and 13 inches of vacuum.

I am using a new stock 351W PCV valve... I am beginning to wonder (particularly so after noting the vast difference in initial timing vs a stock engine) if I need to use a different PCV valve. Then again, I have no idea how the PCV valve part number relates to displacement or vacuum.

I realize that part of the issue may be that the rings have not fully seated yet too...

If you are running a 393 or 408 stroker, what did you do for a PCV valve?

Thanks in advance,
-Rory

I run a regular 351 pcv valve in my 427 stroker. Seems fine.

I just ordered an Earl's performance PCV valve for my engine.

I wasn't having any blow by issues, but an open breather wouldn't pass tech inspection at my last track event.  They said that all valve cover breathers have to vent to a catch can.

I've just been running a stock 351w PCV valve in my 408.  Never a problem with it, at all.

Yet another brand new defective part:  :fbomb

At least this was just a $2.99 fix.
