I figured out today why the motor is running rough on the Stang....needs new plug wires. One or two have gotten too close to the manifold which is something I've been meaning to get to, oops!

At any rate I was thinking of getting a set up similar to this one to corral in the wires...

Any particular plug wires better than others? With this separator set up guess they would have to be 8 mm wires. I am running the Pertronix but the stock wires seem to give it plenty from what I can tell...

Remember to properly separate the cylinders that fire in sequence.

Example if your order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
Then do not run 7 & 8 next to each other due to the possibility of cross fire. Whan they doo need to cross try and go as close to 90deg as possible.

If you have 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Then seperate 6 and 5.

I realize newer wires help eliminate this issue, but why take the chance.

I would look back through some of the old CoTM engine pics for ideas on wire separators. The ones you linked are nice, and definitely better than nothing, but there are better looking ones out there for not a lot more $. If you like that look, then go for it. I've had MSD and Ford Racing wires on my car. I stuck with the Ford Racing ones because the have 45 degree boots and help keep them off the headers. IMHO

Taylor wires are very good quality for a good price. I got mine from summit and do use some of the wire holders to keep them off of the hot stuff.

Old wives tale for newer type wires. On one note, I do have an old Ford 8n tractor that has points and use the copper wires and they do leak somewhat. If I try to pull a plug wire while it is running, I can feel the sparkies getting out and running on my hand. Not a lot, but enough to feel the tingle. :ep

Funny you should mention that.

When this months car of the month voting was going on I had noticed Lethal's setup and kind of liked it. I think it's somewhat similar to some of the stuff Summit has?

I had been thinking about getting my wires more "organized" for lack of a better way to put it but kept getting side tracked. Guess this gives me a good reason to have a round to it.

I originally had Ford Racing wires on my 351w, but I recently changed to the MSD wires. Initially, I though the MSD plug boots were straight, but come to find out from the MSD tech, the MSD plug boots are made to bend up to 45*.

Now with my newly installed MSD wires, I can feel a noticeable difference at high RPMs. The Ford Racing wires had an occasional stumble at WOT, but the MSD wires don't miss a beat.

You are correct, i have these but i shortened them so they would go under the montecarlo bar easily, and i have a version of these but i cant find the exact one that fits up too a 9mm wire. I had to modify them by bending the mounting tabs 90 degrees to have a more vertical appearance. It was really just a little something that i wanted to do, and probably wasnt needed. I can get you some other pics if you want.

Thanks for the tips on what you have. I was thinking you had something along those lines.

I ran over to O'Reilly at lunch today and picked up a set of Accel wires. I am running a stock distributor with a Petronix...since I am not running any type of hei setup I figured 8 mm wires would be fine. I happened to look at the wires when I got back to the office and realized you have to strip the wire and clamp on the ends. I have a normal wire stripper but not one that big so back to O'Reilly I went after work. :lol

I am going to use some el-cheapo wire separators for the time being or at least until Summit can ship me the nicer stuff
