Transmission Filler Tube Recommendations??
« on: February, 25, 2010, 10:10:48 PM »
I have a leaking O ring my filler tube.  So I figured, I might as well change the filler tube for the heck of it.

Any recommendations for a C4 Case fill tube?  I have seen they range from $20 up to $100.  Stock is a no-no for me.   :)

Marco-
I dealt with a leak in the filler tube of a '66 I used to own by adding a second, slightly larger o-ring that seated against the shoulder at the base of the tube, above the existing o-ring.  The second o-ring needed to be compressed a little bit (push the tube into the transmission) so the tube could be bolted back onto the cylinder head.  This was effective in stopping my leak.

I did a little more research.  It seems the 6 cyl. and V8 dipsticks are different. At least in the parts catalogs.

So, anyone in Norcal have an old dipstick tube I can fiddle with.
