Dodged a real mess
«

Well took the Mach out for a test run friday night and fill up with gas cause it was low.
Heading back home being very please with how it ran and finding out it still needs a few
minor tweeks to the carb sec spring and let her loose on a long empty straightaway.
First romp up to the 6500 rpm mark and I hear a loud pop, then tapping from the right valve cover
and a miss from a dropped cyl.
Pulled the covers off yesterday and found the problem for the ticking noise.
Seems that one of the roller tip had come out and was laying on the head.
Scorpion hp 1.73 full rollers comp 282s soild lifter and dual springs.
back to the drawing board for me. :cry

found both the roller and pin and both look good.
Will be pulling ALL of them off and checking them and the pushrods for bends later this week.

Wow, you are lucky twofold. First you found the parts, and second you didn't drop that valve from the rocker pushing the retainer down.

Did you check to make sure that the coil's weren't binding with those 1.73 rocker arms?

It looks like the roller wasn't riding on the center of the valve. It's hard to tell by the pic. but it looks like the roller is riding a little rearward on top of the valve causing it to roll off the back side at full lift. just my .02

I didn't know Scorpion made roller rockers that looked like CC magnums.

Good eye. I did a search for Scorpion rockers, and all I can find is aluminum ones. These look like China knock-offs of the Comp Cams Pro Magnums. Probably the reason they failed. I'd consider replacing them all, as this might have been your warning.
