braided brake line help
« on: January, 01, 2010, 04:40:13 PM »
Okay, on the 66, I went to the Granada brakes many years ago when that was about the only option other than original stuff.  I would like to ditch the rubber front brake lines and go to some type of braided lines to stop the flex from the rubber lines.  Could someone tell me what I need to get so it will all adapt up, I don't know squat about the braided stuff or how it needs to match up to the granada calipers?  Thanks, Gary.

I can build you lines.  What inlet size/fitting do the Granada brakes use?

I will check the Raybestos spec book tomorrow . I believe the hose is 3/8 on both ends . I talked to Shaun about the same hoses before but never go to looking up the info .

Hey Mike, thanks for the message.

If they are 3/8" banjo that should be pretty easy to build.  Let me know the thread pitch and if anyone has a picture of the backside of the caliper where the hose seats that would be usefull.

Some non-DOT hoses should be pretty cheap, DOT ones add a bunch.  Perhaps a Stangfix group buy is in order!

Sorry I haven't gotten back to everyone before this, I have been out of pocket a few days.
Thanks to everyone for helping to get the info up on this, as I said before I know nothing about the pitch or yaw or whatever it is for the brake stuff...lol  A group buy would be fantastic as there are lots of people running the Granada stuff from way back and I bet you would sell quite a few set of these!  Thanks, Gary.

I'm running the Granada setup and would definitely be in on a group buy.

I have most of this figured out, all I need is the thread pitch of the calipers.  Anybody know this?

I believe most were a 7/16-24 x 1" banjo bolt, although I seem to recall something about very early(or late?) calipers using 3/8 hoses that screwed directly into the caliper... Been TOO long ago...  :sad

I don't recall the Granada hoses being banjo style.  IIRC the hose end threaded directly into the caliper, at least that's how mine is set up.

Shaun, can you do braided hoses for Granada spindles with PBR calipers on them ?

My project has them mounted, and plumbing the brake lines is the next task I wanted to tackle. Plus I have another set I was going to put on my Wifes car.

I have the parts needed figured out.  I'm working with Mike on test fitting them to determine the correct length needed.

Thanks for all your help!

Sure, those take a 10mm banjo.  Same braided hoses I use in this kit - http://www.streetortrack.com/Street-or-Track-13-Front-Disk-Brake-Kit-for-Mustang-DISK-Granada-spindles-pr-24140.html

DOT legal braided hoses only are here - http://www.streetortrack.com/Street-or-Track-DOT-Stainless-Braided-Front-Brake-Hose-Kit-pr-23558.html

Gary,

Got all the fittings sorted, c6fastback (Mike) is test fitting some now to check length etc.  Once they are ready I'll post back here.

Anybody with a 68-70 with Granada brakes want to test a set of hoses for fitment?  The mounting location needs to be in the stock location under the upper control arm:

PM me if you have a car with these attributes and want a discount on the hoses.

With a lot of help from Mike (c6fastback) we have the hoses figured out.  Here they are installed on Mike's fastback:

Here is the kit:

Regular retail is $64.99 - http://www.streetortrack.com/Stainless-Braided-Brake-Hose-Kit-for-65-73-Mustangs-using-Granada-calipers-pr-24464.html, Stangfix deal will be $55 including shipping.

Add in the rear axle to floor braided line for $40 (only when purchased at the same time as the front) - instead of $44.99 - http://www.streetortrack.com/Street-or-Track-Stainless-Braided-Rear-Intermediate-Brake-Hose-Kit-pr-24107.html.

Checks only for this one.  Made payable to 'Street or Track LLC' and mailed to:

Street or Track LLC
7581 Honeysuckle Rd
West Bloomfield, MI 48324

Please make sure to include your shipping address and year car info.

I will try to run this deal until the end of March 2010 but we reserve the right to change pricing (should our costs change) and change any specifics of the deal at anytime without notice.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
