It's no longer hearsay: the 2011 Ford Mustang will get a 5.0-liter V8 as God intended. Thanks to Twitter and Facebook embargo breakage we also know this monster will have 412 HP. The Muscle Car Wars are heating up again.

All of this comes via Inslde Line, which is likely reporting on data leaked out from people attending the Ford Detroit Auto Show preview event. In case you were curious, the Camaro SS puts out 426 HP and the Dodge Challenger SRT8 produces a mighty 425 HP.

The new Mustang is already the most nimble of muscle cars, so the additional 100 HP over the 2010 Ford Mustang GT will certainly make a big difference even if it's a few HPs short of the competition.
