did anyone install one of these?

1. is the part marked "A" used in the assembly or is it just used to press the bushing out? it's not shown in the instructions.
2. what did you use to press the bushing out of the idler arm? i rented a huge C-clamp from AutoZone and will be using an impact wrench from a friend.

I got mine from Opentracker. It came as an assembly, didn't have to do anything but bolt it in.

There are two kinds of idler arms, that is an adapter sleeve for one of them, it is not a tool. Make sure you hand pack the bearings with grease. The Zerk fitting doesn't work all that well for lubing.

i was looking at your idler arm and you have greasable roller bearings on both ends. what's the length of your idler arm? when i compared the quick steer kit idler arm to my original, the new one was longer by 1" (5" to 6"). i might just return this kit and get yours...

EDIT: pitman arm is the same as my original. only change is the idler arm length.

The pitman arm should be longer too. The quick steer deal is a kit. It comes with the idler and pitman.

Though anything could have been done over the past 40 years. I have seen cars with the quick steer pitman and regular idler arm.

i checked my original pitman to the new. i was wrong, the new is longer by 1".

there is a ding in the JBA tri-Y headers from the original pitman arm, which is probably limiting my turning radius going left. it'll probably be worse with the new pitman arm.

how would i remedy this w/out changing headers?
and, how would i measure how much pitman arm movement is lost?
