New Accelerator rod
« on: February, 20, 2009, 07:09:05 AM »
I had one of those high dollar rods on there and it was a bit short, the pedal was about 4 inches from the floor. Rather than go that route again I ordered the pieces from Speedway motors, I think I have about $15 in this one. Looks pretty sharp.

(the ground strap is not connected because I have the brake line out)

I like it.  I wish the 70's came with a rod in lieu of the cable.

Looks nice. Did that same thing on my last '66. Might change out the stock one on this '66 just because...... Love that air cleaner too.

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/SWEDGED-ALUMINUM-THROTTLE-LINKAGE-10-32-THREAD,3944.html One of these, $7.99

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/PRECISION-LH-MALE-HEIM-3and16-10-32-SHANKandHOLE,7727.html A LH and RH $5.99 ea They also have some standard heims that are only $3.99, not sure what the difference is, figured it was only $4.....

TCP makes/sells basically the same thing through a number of Mustang parts houses and they run about $65

Looks very nice. I built one with 3/8" heym joints and 3/8" all thread rod. I then sleeved it with some copper tubing. Heym joints can be had at NAPA and the rest of the parts were at Lowes.

That looks really nice Mike, those heims look pretty beefy. The copper was a nice touch

Thanks Rick. I like the fitting on your carb linkage. I found a bronse bushing at Lowes and used a 3/8" bolt for the pin.
