I also got the email notice. I went to mom's house Tuesday after Christmas, mostly to take my daughter clothes shopping, but while there I tried to start the convertible. After several primings, dumping fuel into the carburetor, it was only running for a few seconds. One last try and got her rev'ed up and pumping the pedal and the garage filling with smoke. Been too long since I started it, gaskets dried out and the carb is leaking. Then the discussion came from mom that maybe we should sell the convertible. I did not give her a direct answer, only that I would think about it, and bottom line it that I wanted to do at least one more Knott's show. I talked to mom on Thursday, her birthday, and told her that I really do not want to sell it. So we shall see, I have a feeling the story is not over yet. I do plan to attend Knott's this year and I might participate in some of the SF Knott's activities this year.

what is the actual date of the show? I doubt I can go but maybe... I have airline miles and hotel points.
and I hope FordDude that you don't have to sell

The show is April 30th, Sunday. I drive down on Friday and the weekend begins.

thanks. I'm going to look into the possibility of going as a spectator. You guys always post a lot of cool stuff and good times from that show!

It is worth the trip even if you don't bring your car. Mel comes every year with out his! The show is huge, and all Ford!

I'd love to bring my car but mapquest says it's over 2,000 miles and about 30 hours of driving time to get there from here and I would need a tanker full of fuel! But still looks like fun. I will do my best to work out getting there.

Pshhhh, that's never stopped me! ;) 30 driving hours is a nice easy 4 day haul :p

Knotts is still up in the air for me. Trying to finish a thesis requires a lot of (wo)man hours, apparently?? I'd like to go though. Also dependent on who I can bum a ride from since I'd have to fly over so I don't have to miss a lot of work.

I will definitely be at the American Graffiti Festival and Hot August Nights though! :D With Jane, that is.

the 30 hours/4 days doesn't bother me, having done the Power Tour 6 times! But it would be 4 days there, a couple to stay there and 4 back. I can't use that much vacation time or I wouldn't be able to do the HRPT this year. Plus at 12 to 14 mpg and hotels along the way it would add up pretty quick.
I've been talking it over with the wife and since she is still recovering from knee surgery and off work for 3 months with no pay, it might not be a good idea financially this year.

Booooo I will not be making it to Knotts this year :( Apparently I have to defend my thesis on that weekend...? Is that a thing that people trying to graduate with an advanced degree actually do...?

Anyways, I'll see some or most or hopefully all of you at American Graffiti, I guess. Lame!

Depending on timing I was going to visit you in Texas. But you may be on the road to Modesto. I'll just have to keep in touch as to when we take off on our trip.

Sounds good! May be that we kind of meet somewhere in the middle if we're both on the road at the same time :D
