School me on windshields

Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death but I tried the search bar to no avail.

I don't know if I'll be able to save my original windshield, there's a thin scratch across the glass that I think may be JUST deep enough that can't be buffed out.

With that being said, where have people sourced glass? I don't think mine had tint (currently getting body work done) but that's all I see for sale? Also, is the newer glass thinner than the original? What about anything with the Carlite logo?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks for the patience.

I don't know about finding glass that includes the logo, but most glass shops can get replacement windshield at fairly good prices.

If you are not going for an "original" restoration, glass can be had easily, from any number of sources. The quality (safety) of the newer glass is certainly an upgrade as well. You can find it in clear or with tint (various shades/colors). I got mine at a local glass supplier for under $90!

speaking of windshields, I have to replace the windshield in my 67, AGAIN!
I have found that the windshields have not been any thinner. I did have a friend say his new rear glass was noticeably thinner though

My 68 needs it glass replaced also. This one at least lasted 8 years. Stupid truck hauling roofing debris that was not secure lots a small piece of particle board. IT mad a bee line to my windshield while I was doing highway speeds. Have a nice 8" crack now along with several chips.

I had the 65 that I sold done at a local glass shop. I got tinted. Seamed to be just fine for the ten years it was there in my possession. I put a new tinted one in the 67 15 years ago. It seams nice.

I have no clue what brand but they were near or at $100 installed.

IMHO windshields get chipped if you have a driver and since both mine were restomods, I didn't trip on brand. We get windshield damage quite frequently here in Utah.

If you are building a concourse restoration then get the glass with the correct bug.
