I need to pick-up a ignition source in the engine compartment to power the relay setup for electric fans. Problem in my head is that on the drawings that came with the controller it says it needs 3-15 amps for the coil, seems excessive to me in my mind. Could I use one of the wires that feeds the starter solenoid?

So the company says it should be no problems using the solenoid wire. Does anyone know what the color of the wire is?

The wire they are thinking of is either a brown wire or a red/green wire, depending upon the year. I would not recommend that wire, as it will have less than 12V as it is connected to the pink resistor wire under the dash.

A better source would be the green/red wire coming from the voltage regulator, which is a full 12V RUN-only line. It'll be fine as a relay trigger, which shouldn't demand much in the way of current draw. I think the 3-15 amps is the output side of the relay, which should tap into the battery post on the starter solenoid.

Make sense?

Yes it does Mid, Thanks for the advice.
