Steeroids Rack Issue that came up

I have been noticing that my steering feels a little loose lately. I decided to jack the car up and see if I could find out what is going on. When I was wiggling the wheel I felt all kinds of play. My first thought was a ball joint was bad. When I looked under while moving the wheel my Steeroids rack was moving at the point where the inner tie rods attach. I checked the bolts and they are tight but noticed that when I was torquing then the rack stayed put the the blacked moved all over the place. I think I found my problem.

I will call them tomorrow to see what they have to say about it. The next question is to buy a rebuilt rack or scrap this and go for a TCP setup? http://vid206.photobucket.com/album...5-07/E722C541-6614-4CFF-895C-CF1FB639AC08.mp4

I spoke with Chris at Speed Direct this morning and he gave me some troubleshooting info. Chris's tips allowed me to reduce some of the play but there is still more than I feel shouldn't be there. He thinks that the traveler block in the rack (plastic) has excessive wear and feels I need to replace it with a new piece that is either aluminum or stainless. He wasn't sure of the material when we spoke. This also gives me the chance to replace the rubber boot on the rack my long tube headers melted. Got shorty's now! Chris has been very helpful and I hope this solves the issue I am having. The best part is the parts are only a little over $20!

A little off-topic but I'm interested - how do you like the Steeroids rack? Does it retain stock steering radius? Is it good and strong?

I just ask because I'm constantly on the hunt for THE perfect steering solution. Currently have a Unisteer rack that has done me real well over 20,000+ miles. Love the quick steer and the low amount of turns lock to lock and it is excellently precise, but it does increase the turn radius of the car. So far the best setup I've seen is a manual TCP rack combined with an electric PS column, but of course that's insanely expensive.

I am not sure if it gives you the exact same turning radius stock. I drove my car about 10 miles before it ripped it apart and redid everything. I can say is I'm happy with the radius that it gives me. At first I was a little frustrated at the turning radius. I readjusted a steering stop on my suspension and I got quite a bit tighter radius. I hope that helps.
