My wife's old car. A '66 coupe restomod-eration

Sounds like you are talking about two different vent options? But I see only one picture. What you pictured doesn't look bad but I'm mixed, where do you plan to install the stereo head unit?

We have not mocked the other option yet. Instead of coming out with the rounded pieces it would be flat. I like the way it is because it gives some character to the dash and breaks it up some. I'm pretty sure this is how I'm going to go.

I'm going to mount the stereo in a center console. I'm also planning to run AC ducts through the console with vents to the back seat like modern cars if I have the room.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of what you have pictured. It doesn't flow with the curves of the dash what so ever. If the vents were flush with the dash, I think it would look better. You ask for opinions! Ultimately you need to do what you like best.

I felt the same way at first. It kind of felt steam punkish to me at first. But after looking at it and thinking about it i see it matching the gauge cluster and glove box. Also I need a flat surface to mount the vents. There is to much curve in the dash any other way. We are working on smoothing the rest of the dash and muddling everything up. Once it's finished I'll post more pictures.

And that should be the last of my modifications. Still have to weld up the bumpers and a few other things but mainly now it's prep for paint, paint and final assembly. :)

image.jpg My differential is Finished! Will do the final installation next week.

Check out the neat GM axle vents installed on the top. Pretty trick huh.

image.jpg Painted the front crossmember, frame rails and the front of the radiator support. The rest of the engine bay will be body color. Once this is finished we will begin installing the suspension and drive train.

I agree. It was a bit much. It was trimmed down quite a bit. The pictures really don't do it justice. It'll look even better once it's painted.

I don't know. I hope so. We are putting all of the suspension together now and all of the big work is finished but when I back up and look at everything that still needs to be done..... It's pretty overwhelming. I'm going to try. I have read and planned and planned but the final assembly order is what's kind of messing me up. I would prefer to do the paint all at once but due to storage restrictions that most likely will not be possible. I think we will spray the engine bay and interior the body color, then lizard skin the interior, install the drive train and THEN paint the body. Then it's wiring and interior. Sooooo much left to do.

I'm looking at wiring kits. AAW is my first choice right now. Anyone have any opinions on the best wiring kits out there?

I have used both Painless and AAW. I will only use AAW from here on out. It was a great, well engineered kit. The directions are basically just a set of drawings, but if you know a little about wiring you should get through it without too much effort.

Lizard skin is FINISHED! I will also Dyna Mat the interior and install carpet pad on the roof under the Mustangs to Fear headliner. I did not spray the Lizard skin in the doors. I will only use Dyna Matt there. The front suspension is all in and the engine bay is blocked. The engine bay should have color on it next week. The rear suspension will also be installed next week. :D:D:D:D

You're making great progress! Keep the updates coming. My 65 coupe project has been stalled for close to 2 years now, plan on getting back to it next week.

Thanks. I'm trying to keep the momentum going. It's getting closer all the time. I have no idea how these TV shows can build a car in a week.

It's been a busy week. The outer side of the engine bay aprons was painted.

The engine bay was sealed.
