Re-restoration in progress for some vintage racing

Thought I'd update a little. Have replaced the front suspension and new shocks all around. The engine is waiting on the new cam for final assembly and the headers arrived today. Added tow hooks front and rear, deleted the trunk lock and added a window net and new race seat.

Had to go to Kansas for a few days to attend the funeral of a friend. Stopped in to see my engine which will be coming home next weekend (provided I don't crash from the drugs between now and then). Snapped up a couple of pics as it sits...waiting...patiently for me.

Back from Kansas and the new engine is finally at home with me! Spent Friday afternoon doing multiple dyno runs and tuning. As in everything with high performance (race) parts...you are always finding the next weakest link! This one was the old distributor from the 289. It ran fine the last time, but died during these runs. The timing started dancing around above 3 grand like a 6 year old with firecrackers in his pants. I was going to replace it earlier with a new MSD unit, but got sidetracked with life and had forgotten about it. A new one is on its way!

Anyway, if you want numbers, I'll gladly reply in a PM. I don't want my fellow vintage guys knowing my goods :p

BTW, it's pretty badass IIDSSM.

Pics from yesterday. The old plug wires were made to fit the old style cap. Either a new cap or new wires are next. The new AN fittings and braided hose for the fuel lines arrived yesterday too. Just waiting on the offset dowel pins to get the bellhousing lined up. Need to test fit the new Mac headers too. It won't be long before it goes home! The blue oil filter was for transport after the dyno runs. I have FL-HP's sitting on the shelf.

Is it too early to start a "gofundme" account for the next engine?

I think it's a great idea for you guys to start a go fund me page for another engine. With friends like you…
