What did you get done on your Stang today????

I needed to create a spot to attach several wires directly to the battery, a power source for the cooling fan, the Crane HI6 box among some other things. I am using the late model starter but I use the fender solenoid as a junction distribution point. I made a bracket to hold the solenoid and a distribution block to the support for the battery tray. I'm going to paint the aluminum pieces before it gets installed on the car. IMG_3117.JPG IMG_3118.JPG IMG_3119.JPG

Finally, got the brakes done, maybe I will have time to continue the Tilt column rebuild. Also need to prep the Mustang for the holiday trip to Houston.

Figured how I'm going to mount the Holley EFI ECU this afternoon, I didn't want it in the engine compartment and this unit is small enough that I could fit in the glovebox and still have some room. I went a different route than others, I mounted it to the top instead of the bottom, I thought the wire harnesses ended up being bunched up by the heater box when mounted to the bottom, when I checked moving it up the few inches a lot more space was available back there. I will have to make a shield of some sort as the holes for the harnesses leaving the glovebox are visible because the down angle of the box. I made a strap that attaches on the outside of the box to add some strength and provide a firm way to mount the front screws, for the rear screws I used a nutserts in a fender washer which I then used a hot glue gun to secure in place. I am making slow progress on cleaning up the Holley harnesses, but getting close, the AAW harness on the other hand is all but done. I made a bracket today to hold the flasher my LED lights require to the fuse box mounting screws today also. holley ecu glovebox mount.JPG Holley ECU mount.JPG

Finally found a little Mustang time. I did the final break-in on the 428 CJ by running it at 2500 RPM for about 20 mins. Everything went well and the next step will be to put it back on the engine stand for painting.

Brought the jig home , lifted the vert and placed it beneath her.

Refurbished my 64.5 Distributor and installed the Crane ignition pickup in it, this past weekend. Inching closer to a running Mustang.

My car was getting tuned on the dyno today and the clutch went dead. Something in the hydrauics went out. I don't know yet if it is as simple as the hose or if it is a mc or slave cylinder. I am a bit disgusted but at least it should be an easy fix. The master cylinder has me the most concerned. I got it before the company went out of business in 2008ish time frame and hope that is not the problem. Finding a replacement may be difficult if it can't be rebuilt. I'll see soon enough. They did say that it looks like it will be putiting out close to 14 lbs of boost. I hope that equates to a little over 600 at the wheels.

I now lost my place in line at the tuner while repairs are made and it will be a couple weeks before it goes back on the rollers. :(

Bummer.

I don't trust hydraulics nearly as much as I trust mechanical devices (brakes excepted).

A time line emerges! First Randy had the Fred Flintstone car, then moved to a horse and carriage, then Horseless carriage and finally hit his stride going full bore when cable brakes were finally replaced with hydraulics and he had no CHOICE! LOL

I've had the Optima red top in the car since 2002. It still works fine and starts the car every time, but I've been thinking of easy ways to shed a few pounds off the car and decided to go with a lightweight battery. After searching through the threads over at Corner-Carvers, I decided on an Odyssey PC680. It arrived yesterday and I made the swap today. The Optima and mount weighed 44lbs and the new Odyessey and mount came in at 15lbs. Way easier than dieting!

Even after sitting since last October, the car had no problems lighting off.
