Any body running a E cam with a carb?

I'll be putting in a GT40P into my 66. I was given a E cam and while the engine is not in the car, this will be the ideal time to install. I know the EFI guys have issues with it. I've read the carb guys have a lot easier time with it. How are the E cams manors? I'm on the fence about using it. Opinions? My 66 is a 4 speed with tall gears, I'll be running MAC longtubes, a Stealth and a 600 Edelbrock.

I know there are better cams out there than the E Cam, but I have it on my EFI 331 and have never had any of the surging issues with a bone stock ECM . My car runs almost 108 MPH in the quarter with 3.27 rear gears, accelerates nicely, idles smooth and has a nice exhaust note.
If you got it for nothing, then by all means install it...

No experience with an E cam, but might I suggest a call to one of the cam makers (I use Elgin). Talk to them about what you want with this engine and what you're planning on using. Maybe the E cam is not the right one for the application.

I know it's an old cam and better cams out there. But it was free other then the cost of shipping. Actually paying for a cam really isn't in the cards at the moment. For what it generally costs for these roller cams, it's close to a custom grind and that's what I'd do. If I don't use it, I'll just run the stock one. A set of much needed shocks comes first.

Right now I'm use to no torque at all, so E cam can't be worse, lol.

I have the e cam in my 5.0 and also running 1.7 roller rockers. I have a holly 600 DP carb and t-5 trans.. I drag raced it in my 85 mustang and went 12.6 in the 1/4. Never had any issues with it. I am using duraspark 2 ignition also. You will be fine.
Ps. My heads are gt 40 cast.

87 t top here, been running e cam for 20 years with mass air and gt40p heads and intakes with 0 trouble in all weather conditions in the northeast, there's a reason they still sell that grind and nothing wrong with decades old tech, idles fine, part throttle fine, wide open a blast

Before swapping over to mass air, I ran the e-cam with with a 650 holley dp. It ran great never had a problem with it. But unlike stangg, when I swapped over to the mass air efi, I had the dreaded surging problem. But I've tuned most of that out now....

I'm running the E in my '67 in a late model crate 5.0. 1.7 rollers, Road Demon 625, edelbrock rpm air-gap, msd billet ignition. GT40p iron heads with tri-y long tubes in an x pipe and spin tech mufflers. sounds GREAT! love it. lumpy down low and at idle but really sounds great on the highway speeds. it's lumpy, but i get nothing but compliments on the sound. i may have a bit too much carb, as I've already down jetted a bit, but i love it. i'm running 2.79, but will likely step up to either 3.40 or 3.55 by fall.

I ran it with a '66 I had, GT40 iron heads, performer intake, 4100 carb, Pertronix ignition, 350 gears and a toploader. It ran like a raped ape! I wish I still had that car.

Not running a carb (sorry) - crate Ford Racing 306 with EFI (custom CAI, ceramic shortys, Borla x-pipe) and E303. I can't really tell from the inside, but every time I pull up to a stop light or gas station, someone invariably says, "that thing sounds AWESOME! What kind of motor are you running."
From a dead stop, the acceleration in first gear (T5) is meh. From second on, it's a rocket ship.
